Meet Anthony Hammond

A 2nd generation hospitality professional, Anthony learnt a love for the industry from his parents. Growing up in country pubs, he was taught the inherent nature of being a publican from an early age while discovering the ins and outs of the business. Fast forward a few decades and Anthony now owns two of Melbourne’s most esteemed pubs with a long career of founding, managing and working at multiple others.

As the current owner of Fitzroy’s Builders Arms Hotel and Footscray’s Victoria Hotel, Anthony sports some accolades, awards and hats under his belt, and his venues are frequently listed in ‘The Age Good Food Guide’. Anthony is also the brainchild behind, and founder of the ‘Pub with No Booze’ and ‘Bar with No Booze’ concepts.

Having owned his first venue in 1998, Anthony’s wealth of knowledge and breadth of experience stems beyond basic hospitality understanding. Anthony has an innate understanding of people, hospitality and what makes a good business thrive. Working for the Van Haandel Group at Stokehouse and The Prince, St Kilda—and in partnership with Andrew McConnell, he has learnt and grown with the best in the business, developing an inherent awareness of how to set a business up for long-term hospitality success.

Anthony’s solutions-based approach allows him to be a hands-on consultant who steers clear of providing passive direction and rather leans in to working together to implement meaningful change. This approach allows business owners to run more sustainable and profitable venues while freeing up their time to enjoy working on the business, not in the business.
